How to Split a PDF File Online

Extract specific pages or split a large PDF into smaller files in seconds. No account needed, completely free.

Everything runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your device at any point.

Split Your PDF in 3 Steps

1

Upload Your PDF

Drag your PDF onto the upload area or click to browse. Files up to 100MB are supported. If your PDF is password protected, you will need to unlock it first. Page thumbnails load progressively so you can start reviewing your document straight away.

2

Choose a Split Mode

Pick one of three ways to split your PDF. Custom Ranges lets you type page numbers and ranges like "1-3, 5, 8-10" to create separate output files from each group. Fixed Intervals splits the document every X pages automatically. Extract All saves every single page as its own PDF. Click any thumbnail to open a full-screen preview before you decide which pages to extract.

3

Download Your Files

Click Split PDF and a live progress bar shows the work happening. A single extracted range downloads as a PDF named after your original file. Multiple ranges or Extract All downloads as a ZIP archive with each part numbered. When complete, you can download again with the same settings or start a new task.

What You Can Do with the PDF Splitter

Three ways to split, a full-screen preview, and everything running privately in your browser.

Full-Screen Page Viewer

Click any page thumbnail to open it in a full-screen viewer. Zoom in up to 300%, pan around, and navigate pages with arrow keys to check content before splitting.

Custom Ranges

Type page numbers and ranges directly: commas create separate output files, hyphens define a range, and single numbers extract individual pages. For example, "1-3, 5, 8-10" produces three separate PDFs.

Fixed Intervals

Split a document into equal chunks automatically. Set the interval and the tool works out how many files you get. Splitting a 10-page document every 2 pages gives you 5 separate files.

Extract All Pages

Turn every page into its own PDF in one click. All files are packaged into a ZIP archive ready to download.

Fully Private

Files are processed locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server and nothing is stored.

Works on Any Device

Phone, tablet, or desktop. Any modern browser can run this tool without any installation.

Common Uses for Splitting PDFs

A few situations where splitting a PDF comes in handy:

  • Extracting a single chapter from a long report or book.
  • Sending only the pages of a contract that a specific person needs to sign.
  • Breaking up a scanned multi-page document into individual files.
  • Splitting a large PDF into smaller pieces to meet an email attachment limit.
  • Pulling out individual pages to attach separately or reuse elsewhere.
  • Previewing specific pages in full-screen before deciding what to extract.

Your Privacy

Your file is processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.

We never see your documents or store anything after splitting.

Your original file stays unchanged on your device throughout.
